Hi, I'm an amateur pianist who plays in my spare time. I originally created this channel as motivation to practice and actually see what I could do if I polished up my pieces to performance-standard. I've been classical-trained for a number of years, so you'll find some classical music on here, as well as pieces from video games/anime if I find them pleasant enough.
Recently, I've finally been able to acquire a concert grand piano of my own, so my focus has expanded somewhat to learning how to record it with great audio quality in the comfort of my own living room. I hope you enjoy my videos!

My Star - Final Fantasy XVI (solo piano cover)
composer: Masayoshi Soken
piano arrangement: @purpleschala
I rather enjoyed this song, as it had some jazzy elements and was different from the usual Final Fantasy theme song. However, I can't help but feel unfairly emotionally manipulated by that game ending while this song was playing in the background, haha. I did my best to imitate the wonderful singer's phrasing.
Side note: I'm very pleased with the recording mix this time.

Via Purifico - Final Fantasy X (Piano Collections)

I was a bit surprised to find that this piece was relatively popular in the FFX OST, since I found it rather forgettable when I heard it in-game many years ago. However, I do think that this arrangement rather elevates the piece to something quite atmospheric. Recorded on a New York Steinway D in my living room.
Borodin/Gryaznov - Nocturne from String Quartet No. 2
Переглядів 1,7 тис.2 місяці тому
A beautiful arrangement of a piece that was featured in the Disney short movie The Little Matchgirl. I think this arrangement really shines in the recap when the writing becomes more pianistic and free-flowing. Recorded on a New York Steinway D in my living room.

I am usually very reluctant to learn and record well-known pieces, but this piece has been ideal for my experiments with reverb, as there are plenty of professional recordings to use as a reference. Finally I decided to actually learn this piece properly for the first time to see what it's all about, and I have to say it's composed really well on top of being pleasant to listen to. There's many...
Tchaikovsky/Gryaznov - Waltz of the Flowers
Переглядів 10 тис.6 місяців тому
Merry Christmas! Here is a concert arrangement of the famous Waltz of the Flowers. I underestimated this piece 2 years in a row, so this year I gave myself plenty of time to prepare for the holiday season. I'm sure my neighbors are tired from 3 months of Christmas by now. I found this piece to be challenging both technically and musically, as I believe it is written in such a way to encourage a...
Aerith's Theme (Final Fantasy 7 piano cover)
Переглядів 3 тис.8 місяців тому
I think this is the most beautiful theme in all of Final Fantasy, so I found this rather improvisatory arrangement and gave it a go. This also gave me an opportunity to add a little extra reverb to the recording. Composer: Nobuo Uematsu Arrangement: SLSMusic Recorded on a Steinway D in my living room.
Vague Hope - NieR Automata piano cover
Переглядів 6 тис.9 місяців тому
This is another cover of Vague Hope, different from the Piano Collections, played on the Square Enix music channel. I find this arrangement more interesting to play, as it's more elaborate and improvisatory than the Piano Collections version. Composed by: Keigo Hoashi Arranged by: Takurou Iga Sheets from patreon.com/zakid Recorded on a Steinway D in my living room.
Chopin - Nocturne Op. 27 No. 2 in D-flat major
Переглядів 6 тис.9 місяців тому
My teacher assigned me this piece many many years ago, and I learned it somewhat reluctantly. However, one way or another it ended up being a permanent fixture in my repertoire, which is saying something since pretty much all other pieces fall out of my fingers sooner or later. This is my 3rd attempt at recording this piece on the channel. I was never really fully satisfied with the previous in...
Rachmaninoff/Gryaznov - Italian Polka
Переглядів 21 тис.10 місяців тому
A fun and popular arrangement by Gryaznov, who wrote it in one night for a concert. The original work comes from a tune that Rachmaninoff heard while on vacation in Italy, and he promptly wrote it for two piano. I like that this arrangement gives the performer a chance to also explore some other emotions like tenderness, and maybe even a hint of darkness. The second half of the piece is technic...
Chopin - Nocturne Op. 62 No. 1 in B major
Переглядів 7 тис.Рік тому
This is the first video featuring my new NY Steinway D. I must be allergic to bright pianos, because I more or less picked the mellowest one within a minute or two of testing all the pianos. The salesperson and technician also all predicted I would select this one. The tone sounds just right to my ears. For me, this nocturne carries a special spiritual or meditative power. I found it very diffi...
Final Fantasy XIII - The Promise (piano cover)
Переглядів 7 тис.Рік тому
Composed by: Masashi Hamauzu Arranged by: Yui Morishita Another transcribed cover from Final Fantasy. This is one of the best main menu themes in a video game, in my opinion. I've thought about recording the Piano Collections arrangement before, but I don't find that one to be as compelling. No sheets, sorry! Recorded on a New York Steinway B.
Rachmaninoff - Prelude in D Major, Op. 23 No. 4
Переглядів 11 тис.Рік тому
A dreamy prelude with a sustained melody permeating throughout the piece. For me, the main challenge here was to strike the right balance between overall flow and rubato without sounding monotonous. Also, the uniform texture of this piece really makes uneven notes stick out, something which I am still getting used to on the grand piano. The Kawai digital hybrid piano was really forgiving in thi...
Final Fantasy - Chocobo Theme (piano cover)

Rachmaninoff/Gryaznov - The Night is Sad, Op. 26 No. 12
Переглядів 7 тис.Рік тому
This is my first video recording a New York Steinway model B that Steinway has lent me while I wait to pick out a Hamburg D later this year in Germany. This piano has a beautiful mellow tone that I find difficult to capture in a recording. I just about went insane for a month learning and experimenting how to record it with no prior knowledge whatsoever (literally didn't know how to attach a mi...

A piece that I listened to a lot growing up but never actually tried learning myself until recently. There is melancholy and a lot of raw emotion here. I had the opportunity to try out this piece on a freshly prepped Steinway D, which felt and sounded amazing. Planning to order one at the end of the month! i first heard this in the movie his majesty okeef which the the movie i saw with my first love 63 years ago. i didn’t know what the piece was until many years later but every time i hear this i am transited back to the arms of my first love in 1961
It's just amazing that ANY human being could write something so beautiful. The Genius of Rachmaninov shines through above all others! So simple and yet soo complicated at the same time. Brilliant!
Truly wonderful interpretation, even more beautiful than that of 5 years ago. A big thank-you !!!👏👏👏🙏
This pianist is so pianistic suave; with his arrangements too. The waltz of the flowers has been one of my favorites since, I suspect, from my dear mother’s womb. Perhaps, ole Tchaikovsky was thinking mostly of roses while writing this masterpiece? Mmmmmmmmmmmmmm? PWG
Just lovely..! Love this..! One of the most melodic pieces of music..!
Absolutely beautiful!
I play piano and can play this song as well, but wow does this guy have the hands of a God, the sheer accuracy, swiftness, grace, professionalism, improvisation, and skill, is absolutely bar none phenomenal. This man has obviously put the time in to know his scales, sharps and flats to a "T". Well done. Hard work pays off. Thankyou for that stunningly beautiful, nastalgic and unforgettable piece of music.
Very lovely playing! Forgive me if I am a bother, but do you have any tips for training my fingers' strength evenly? I feel that I am lacking in my ring & pinky fingers & my thirds are definitely suffering from it. Any advice is greatly appreciated. 🙏
bro that was epic
is the piano sheet music on sale?
Bravo!
The short pause at 0:34 is just perfect. And the way you played the chords before going into the main melody was just chilling. Perfect.
How? It felt incomplete
i fw this heavy
Hello, are there any notes
Did you like the NV10 you used to play in older videos? Did you find that it had some major negatives that could have deterred you from buying a digital/hybrid that expensive? Was the SK sound realistic? I already use VSTs since they sound better than what digital pianos come with, but do you think dropping $19,000+ on a newer NV10 one day would be worth it for the grand action feel since just getting an acoustic wouldn’t be possible. 👀
People who call this "old people music" are basically brain dead. There is a big difference between young vs young and dumb. It's like food... People only like what they know because they didn't give anything else a chance. In the case of romantic period music, ESPECIALLY nocturnes by Field, Chopin, and Alkan-- It's pretty safe to say nearly every single one is musically potent. A lot more potent than fake musicians who can't even sing, play an instrument, or do anything beyond faking it for their fans anyway. -Someone who has obsessed over music much older than this since I was a small child. P.S great example of Garritan CFX VST thanks for uploading! Been looking for some alternatives to my current options: Arturia v3, pianoteq, and pianoverse. Mostly very satisfied with pianoverse but i'm very impressed with Garritan CFX now. P.P.S Also an amazing performance to say the least. The context provided by your dynamic control is both beautiful and powerful. Bravo!
so beautiful
Сокровище Великой Музыки. Произведение необыкновенной красоты. Спасибо за исполнение.
dude I've been subscribed to you since like 2017 but haven't seen your videos on my subscriptions page in YEARS. WTF UA-cam...
Has a Steinway D in his Living Room Recording it like a professional studio Performing a Rachmaninoff difficult piece with perfecto musicalite and articulations meanwhile: About me: Hi, I'm an amateur pianist who plays in my spare time!
This is joyous. I often wonder who you are, and where you are in the world, and why you’re not concertising. I say that as a professional pianist and piano teacher myself.
❤
You play incredible
So well-played and recorded. A gem!
This is one of my favourite piano pieces.
I think I'm in love with this video
The little echo makes it so precious to listen
Says the score is not available in my country on musescore, could I request a copy by email or some other form?
Beautiful. U should do secrets of the forest. Chrono trigger
I've been listening to a few performances of this on UA-cam and this is so far the best!!
Superb! Excellent transcription and performance!
Beautiful.
Ahhhhh!!! Seriously who are you?!?!?! I LOVE THIS!! ❤️
Speechless
cool, you're great
can you explain how this is recorded?
Your performance is wonderful. I haven’t played ff16 so I don’t know what to make of this piece. So much of gaming is the world building, the characters, the story and the emotional connection to this multimedia platform. So hearing this is very different than hearing your FF15 performances, because I did play that game. Thank you for sharing this and hope all is well with you.
OH HEY!!! 😍very honored you played my arrangement, LOVED THIS!!! haha good on ya for changing that Bb13 back to augmented with that F# at 2:40...lol I was just SO TICKLED that the regular Bb13 with the F natural made it sound kinda like old school Uematsu Melodies of Life so I made the change lol, but when I first started listening to your vid that was the FIRST thing I thought, like, I wonder if he's gonna change that back to a Bbaug13, it's definitely spicier that way lol besides being what was originally sung. Exquisite job as always!!! <3 <3 <3 thank you for this!
Is piano arrangement something that can be learned, or just by experimentation? I used to improvise hymn accompaniment, nowhere near any level of true excitement. I wonder if it’s too late for me. Jazz, for example, is definitely way too late. Nothing makes sense there.
Thanks for listening to your own arrangement haha. I thought you might have misheard the melody so I just changed it back, and also accidentally changed the chord as well to outline the melodic notes, but it ended up sounding ok in the end anyway. I like that you gave the arrangement room to sound epic, as opposed to other piano covers that I've heard which were just soft and understated, which is nice for a sweet romantic version, but I feel is missing the power of the original vocal rendition.
@@RichardYangPiano lol dunno about other people but it’s 100% experimentation for me, just throwing stuff on the wall and seeing what sticks haha
@@rach3master When I first heard this interpretation, I haven't heard the FF16 soundtrack yet, but the portion corresponding to the vocal portion standed out to me. After hearing the soundtrack multiple times, I realized how well you have adapted the harmony and the atmosphere to the piano. What a great experience. All the more respect to you.
Delicious work as usual
Espectacular Felicidades. Yo también estoy practicando ese vals. Espero ya tenerlo listo cuando llegue navidad
Too ez. Rachmaster has done it again 🤘🤘
Thank you for posting this beautiful cover!👏🏼❤️
I'm surprised this guy/girl doesn't have more views. Person is just as talented as anyone else on youtube elite pianists
It's "guy" by the way. I agree with the statement. But this video just got released, plus he's definitely getting there!
@@MrMiaumee how did you find out it's a guy?
@@MrMiaumee Pretty sure its a girl
@@arzakku8838 Long time fan would know. Not saying much here because I don't think it's in the interest of the channel creator to talk much about it.
Beautiful work...piano, mics, and playing all. And, cool to see purpleschala's work here!!
when this theme comes in the scene, i immediately started crying. Beautiful performance
Beautiful! So beautiful 🥰
Sounds a bit like the romance theme from yu yu hakusho
Gorgeous

Beautiful playing as always :D
